Reciprocation is a kinetic fabric sculpture and soundscape that brings to life the state changes at the heart of steam engine technology. Two suspended forms ebb and flow overhead, responding to energy and motion in the room, embodying the perpetual transformation of water into steam.

In engineering, reciprocation describes the restless back-and-forth of the piston, the cyclical pulse that drives the engine. Here that same rhythm moves through fabric and sound, a breathing exchange between the work and the people gathered beneath it.
